Busy Summer

Alexander will be performing at many various festival this Summer. The Sitkovetsky Trio makes their debut at the Cheltenham and Rheingau festivals and then Alexander performing recitals and chamber music at the Kuhmo, Music@Menlo, Bridgehampton festivals as well as at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. In between he will return to the UK briefly to give the closing concerts of the King’s Lynn and Harrogate Festivals, performing the Tchaikovsky with the Czech National Symphony Orchestra. The Summer festival season will finish with performances at the Jerusalem International Music Festival. All concerts through the Summer are updated on the Concert Page.

Emerging Artist Award from the Lincoln Center

Alexander has been awarded the prestigious “Emerging Artist Award” together with the pianist Wu Qian. The pair were nominated for this award by the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. They will be performing at the Prize ceremony at the Lincoln Center on the 2nd of March.

Leading/Directing with the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra

Alexander has just made his Debut in Oslo where he directed the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra in a program titled “Rule Britannia”. The works performed were composed in the IK over the last 400 years but not only by British Composers. The program included the Panufnik Violin Concerto.

Recordings Shortlisted for Award

Alexander’s recent recordings of Martinu with Maxim Rysanov, Arensky with Spectrum Concerts Berlin, and the Mendelssohn Trios with the Sitkovetsky Trio have all been shortlisted for an "International Classical Music Award".

Critical Acclaim for recordings.

Three new recordings featuring Alexander have received awards and critical acclaim. The Panufnik Violin Concerto for the CPO label received a special award at the International Classical Music Awards and was also nominated for Concerto recording of the year. His new CD together with the violist Maxim Rysanov of Martinu Duos, recorded for BIS, has also been brilliantly received and his latest CD with the Sitkovetsky Trio, Also for BIS, of the complete Mendelssohn Trios has won a Supersonic award from Pizzicato magazine as well as many other accolades.

Chamber Music in Japan and New York.

Alexander has just celebrated the 10th Anniversary of the Kobe Chamber Music Festival where he performed with his friends from Ensemble RARO and also directed the Kobe Chamber Orchestra. He then joined the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center for a concert of Schumann and Brahms.

Past Summer’s Highlights.

Alexander Enjoyed a tremendously busy Summer debuting with the Yumiuri Nippon Symphony in Tokyo and the BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra in Glasgow and returning to the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra. Festival highlights included returns to the Utrecht Chamber Music Festival, Cheltenham Festival and the Elverum Festival as well as his recital debut at the Verbier Festival. In August, Alexander traveled to Australia to direct the Australian Chamber Orchestra’s ACO Collective and to perform the Panufnik Concerto with them. He finished the summer off at the Jerusalem International Chamber Music Festival.

Panufnik CD Continues to Gather Plaudits

The recording of the violin concerto was voted as the "Musicweb CD of the year" by the Musicweb International website and has also been nominated in the "Concerto" category by the International Classical Music Awards.

Debut in Poznan

Alexander has just returned from a special concert with the Poznan Philharmonic Orchestra to celebrate the 100 years since Andrzeij's Panufnik's birth. he performed the composer's violin concerto in front of Lady Camilla Panufnik with Lukasz Borowicz conducting.

Upcoming Debut with Brussels Philharmonic at the Cadogan Hall

Alexander will make his debut with the Brussels Philharmonic and Michel Tabachnik, performing the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto in two concerts in the UK, one at the Cliffs Pavilion in Southend on April 1st and the other at the Cadogan Hall in London on the 2nd. Trio di Trieste Competition

Last year, together with the Pianist Wu Qian, Alexander received the 1st prize at the "Trio di Trieste" Duo Competition in Trieste, Italy. more info

Chamber music Society of Lincoln Centre

Alexander has won a place at the prestigious "Chamber Music Society Two" program at the Lincoln Centre. The three year residency will begin this coming August when he will join David Finckel, Wu Han and Paul Neubaurer to perform concerts at the Mecklenburg Vorpommern Festival as well as aboard a Mediterranean Cruise before heading over to New York in November. more info
